TEAM HISTORY
Mark Carrell, President, is “The General” in the company. He and his 3 brothers started their own landscaping company in 2007 to put themselves through university. It does not get any more “grass roots” than laying sod in northern Alberta during the summer months of Blackcard’s humble beginnings. After each brother went on to pursue careers in the medical and firefighting industries, Mark began to focus solely on the development of this “family” driven business. In 2018, Mark jumped on an opportunity to merge his business activities with Gord Oliver and created Blackcard Construction. Mark is an “on the tools leader” who loves to get in the trenches with the guys and lead by example. Mark’s current role has him overseeing all aspects of Operations across Canada. He oversees and supports each of our Superintendents/Project Managers as they report to Mark with their FLHA’s, Safety Reports, Budget Reports, Estimates, Change Orders, and Close Out Reporting.

Gord Oliver, Chief Executive Officer, sold his previous company to his partners a few years ago, primarily because they did not share a vision of working on temple projects. After more than a decade running his own business in the Construction and Facility Maintenance Industry, Gord joined Mark to start a new venture. They are focused on being able to work on temple projects, and they bring that level of custom quality to any other project in the construction world. Gord has led a team of 200 employees and well over 250 subcontractors with an annual revenue over 20 million dollars in his past businesses. He is highly skilled in building teams for large projects and managing them by focusing on excellent communication with clients, contractors, and other important stakeholders. Gord has been a key leader in Canada for almost every major temple renovation since 2017. There are few business leaders in Canada with a network as vast as Gord’s, which he maintains from his previous ventures, performing work in all three western provinces and the Yukon.

Since 2018, Mark and Gord have worked along side Westland Construction (Regina and Edmonton) and Willow Spring Construction (Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Regina, Montreal, Halifax) on major temple renovations for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, across all three western provinces, and Ontario, Quebec, and Nova Scotia.

We look to achieve the highest levels of quality and satisfaction, as we work on your projects, whether they be a beach-front custom home retreat on Kootenay Lake in British Columbia, or a magnificent religious structure in Calgary, Alberta. You can be assured our broad and diverse experience will produce the results you are looking for.
